One in every 566 housing units in Madison County received a foreclosure filing in May 2012, according to RealtyTrac.com, a site that analyzes real estate trends nationwide.
The site indicated that in Madison County, most foreclosure filings were against property owners in Granite City. Glen Carbon had the fewest foreclosure filings.

RealtyTrac indicated that nationwide foreclosure filings were up 9.12 percent in May compared to April 2012. The top foreclosure cities in the U.S. are: Miami, Chicago, Las Vegas, and Phoenix.
