Jerseyville Wal-Mart sued over customer’s slip

A Madison County woman is suing a Jerseyville Wal-Mart and its manager after she allegedly slipped and fell near the entrance of the store.

Heather Cory filed the lawsuit Nov. 4 in Madison County Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Stores Inc., doing business as Wal-Mart Supercenter, and Michael Coop.

Cory says she visited the Jerseyville Wal-Mart in November 2009. As walked into the store, she says she slipped on a wet floor and fell onto her backside. Cory claims there were not adequate floor mats considering the condition of the entrance.

Cory accuses Wal-Mart and Coop, the store manager, of negligence and asks for more than $100,000 in damages for medical bills and court costs.

Attorney Michael P. Glisson, of Alton’s Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson law firm, is representing Cory.
