A former CSX employee alleges he sustained severe and permanent injuries to his shoulders, neck, back and body following his work for the railroad.
Miguel A. Vasquez filed a lawsuit Aug. 11 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against CSX Transportation.
In his complaint, Vasquez claims he worked as a laborer and machine operator for CSX when he was subjected to numerous repetitive traumas, causing his injuries.
In addition to his injuries, Vasquez suffered great pain and anguish, lost his earning capacity and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint.
Vasquez blames CSX for causing his injuries, saying the railroad negligently failed to provide him with a safe place to work, failed to provide safe work methods and failed to supply sufficient manpower, the suit states. In addition, the railroad negligently failed to provide safe tools and equipment, the complaint says.
Vasquez seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Robert W. Schmieder of Pratt and Tobin in East Alton will be representing him.
