A woman has filed suit against the truck driver who she claims crashed into her as he attempted to change lanes.
Roxann Bohstedt claims she was driving in the left southbound lane on Interstate 55 in St. Clair County on March 18 when defendant Desmond Ashley, who was driving a truck for defendant Markare Services, attempted to change lanes and crashed into Bohstedt’s vehicle.
Because of the collision, Bohstedt sustained severe and permanent injuries to her shoulders and cervical spine, suffered great pain and mental anguish, lost large sums of money because of her inability to pursue her normal occupation and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed May 27 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Ashley negligently failed to keep the tractor-trailer under control, drove too fast, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep a proper distance between his vehicle and others on the road, failed to keep his vehicle in the proper lane of traffic, failed to yield the right-of-way, drove his vehicle with disregard for the safety of others and failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision, the suit states.
In her two-count complaint, Bohstedt is seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.
Bruce R. Cook of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer and Shevlin in Belleville will be representing her.
St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-262.
