Motorcyclist claims truck driver ran red light

A motorcycle rider says he was struck by a truck driver who drove through a red light.

Jeffrey T. Orbin filed a lawsuit Sept. 4 in Madison County Circuit Court against Drew A. Edwards.

Orbin claims he was driving a motorcycle north on Illinois Route 157 at the entrance ramp to U.S. Interstate Route 55/70 in Collinsville when Edwards, who was driving a truck south on Illinois Route 157, struck him after failing to stop for a red light.

As a result of the collision, Orbin sustained injuries to various parts of his body, suffered pain, permanent disability and disfigurement and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint.

Orbin blames Edwards for driving the truck through a red light, for failing to yield the right-of-way, for failing to keep a proper lookout and for failing to stop or swerve to avoid a collision.

Orbin is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Brad L. Badgley of Belleville will be representing him.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-932.
