FELA suit filed by railroad veteran

A 37-year veteran signal maintainer with Union Pacific Railroad is suing his employer for low back, hip and leg injuries he sustained while on the job.

Floyd A. Roy, who was assigned to work in the city of Dupo during the first years of his employment, filed a Federal Employers Liability Act suit Dec. 27 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

He claims his injuries were sustained by his exposure to whole body vibrations, jolting, walking on uneven ballasts, climbing, lifting, carrying, repetitive motion and overuse and awkward position, working long and excessive hours, working without adequate and proper manpower assistance, working without adequate and proper tools and equipment and working without being afforded reasonably safe conditions and methods of work.

Represented by Drew C. Baebler of Bauer & Baebler of St. Louis, Roy is seeking in excess of $50,000 in damages.
