Family Video sued over Waterloo man's slip and fall on shoveled snow

A Waterloo man is suing Family Video Movie Club over injuries he claims to have sustained last year when he tried to hop over mounds of snow along the store's sidewalk.

Eugene Huebner alleges he suffered a serious back injury after falling, which has resulted in disability and disfigurement, according to his suit filed Feb. 10 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

The alleged incident took place on Jan. 9, 2014 at the Family Video store in Waterloo, the complaint states.

Huebner claims the defendant is negligent for creating mounds of shoveled snow between the sidewalk and parking block, which caused "an obstacle for Plaintiff and other customers to traverse," the complaint states.

He also claims the business was negligent for having failed to remove the unnatural accumulation of snow, among other alleged acts.

Huebner seeks in excess of $50,000 plus costs of the suit.

He is represented by Matthew J. Marlen of Belleville.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number 15-L-68.
