Semi-truck driver accused of crashing into ambulance, injuring patient

A Madison County woman alleges she was hurt when a semi-truck driver crashed into the ambulance in which she was being transported.

Michelle M. Logue filed a lawsuit Sept. 16 in Madison County Circuit Court against Daniel D. Eddinger and Specialized Transport Inc.

According to the petition, Logue was being transported in an ambulance in September 2012. As the ambulance headed south in the left lane on Interstate Highway 55, Logue alleges the ambulance driver tried to turn right onto an off-ramp near milepost 28. However, at the same time Eddinger was allegedly driving a Kenmore Motor semi-truck in the right lane of I-55 and, as the ambulance made its right turn, he crashed into the right side of it.

Eddinger and his employer, Specialized Transport, are accused of negligence for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle. Logue asks for more than $100,000 in damages for medical expenses, lost wages and court fees.

She is represented by attorney Matthew C. Casey of St. Louis.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 14-L-1279.
