Rear-end accident on Route 111 is subject of suit

A man has filed suit against the driver who he claims rear-ended his vehicle.

David L. Childers filed a lawsuit Feb. 13 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Russell James Kramer.

Childers claims he was driving east on Illinois 111 near its intersection with Bloomer Drive in Alton on Feb. 16, 2012, when the defendant, who was driving in the same direction, struck the back of his vehicle.

Because of the collision, Childers suffered serious and permanent injuries, experienced pain and suffering and incurred medical costs, the suit states. He also suffered permanent disability and lost wages, according to the complaint.

Childers blames Kramer for causing the collision, saying he negligently drove in an improper and careless manner, drove too fast, disregarded traffic signals, failed to maintain a proper lookout, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, failed to keep the steering of the vehicle under control and failed to steer to avoid a collision.

Childers is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs. He will be represented by Timothy F. Campbell of Campbell and McGrady in Godfrey.

Madison County Circuit Court case number 14-L-242.
